Lulu Guinness unveils Surrealist Lips sculpture
Lulu Guinness has unveiled her first sculptural work, Surrealist Lips, marking a significant new direction for the brand following a career spent exploring the space between accessory and artwork

Lulu Guinness at at Pangolin Foundry

The sculpture echoes the brand’s most enduring signature – the Lips motif – giving a defining element of the Lulu Guinness aesthetic a new life beyond the world of fashion and immortalised as a piece of art.

Gleaming and larger-than-life, the sculpture presents a pair of glossy red lips set at an angle, abstracted and playfully off-centre. Standing 4.5 feet tall, the form offers only the suggestion of a smile, its undulating, almost ergonomic curves echoing the contours of the female body.

Lulu Guinness OBE said: “This year I have created my first sculpture – the Surrealist Lips – at Pangolin Foundry. It has been brilliant working with the team there and I am optimistic that this project will mark the start of a new medium for me.”

Surrealist Lips was fabricated at Pangolin Foundry, the renowned foundry by sculptor Lynn Chadwick, located a short distance from Lulu Guinness’s home in Stroud. The piece took around three months to create, brought to life through the traditional sculptural processes of modelling, mould-making and resin casting, before being meticulously hand-polished and painted to achieve its striking, high-gloss finish.
