With spring tentatively showing its blooming colours, our minds have turned to sunshine, relaxation and rejuvenation – and what better place than tranquil waters with a skyline of the alps?

Our spring hotel wishlist begins with the stunning Villa Crespi in bucolic Piedmont. Overlooking Lake Orta, the five-star, family-owned luxury hotel is the ideal place to soak up the beauty of nature, and immerse yourself in some therapeutic wellness. You can relax amongst the scents of spring on the outdoor terrace, in the shade of lush beds of exotic, Middle Eastern plants that reflect the style of the residence.

Located an hour way from Milan-Malpensa airport and two hours from Lake Como, the property – built in 1879 – has been meticulously restored with fourteen rooms, including eight suites and a Wellness Suite, where guests can enjoy a refined wellness experience that involves all the senses. The hotel is also home to Chef Cannavacciuolo’s three-Michelin-starred restaurant.

The hotel currently has two experiences dedicated to relaxation and wellness – ‘Lakes of Piedmont’, where visitors can travel to Upper Piedmont just half an hour’s drive from the Villa – namely the Borromean Islands of Stresa on Lake Maggiore. The experience includes a two-night stay in one of the Relais’s rooms or suites, a guided excursion to the Borromean Islands, guaranteed priority booking at Chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo’s Michelin 3-star Restaurant and reserved rates for spa treatments.

Perfect for a couple’s getaway, the ‘Love’s Charm’ experience is an exclusive two-night stay with breakfast served in your room, a romantic dinner with an ‘Itinerary’ tasting menu, and the Persian Rose total body treatment, a ritual that harnesses the power of essential oils derived from rose petals to make your skin velvety smooth. It also includes a one-hour boat cruise to admire the colours of the sunset reflected on Lake Orta, toasted with a bottle of sparkling wine.
