Icy antics
Too soon to be thinking about winter wonderland escapades? As far as we’re concerned, it can’t come soon enough. Once this September heatwave simmers down, we’ll be practising our finest curling stance and heading to the Southbank Centre for a view of the Thames and some apres-ski sporting fun at The Curling Club. There’ll be live entertainment, music and alpine-inspired street food classics to enjoy, including alpine burgers, bratwurst and raclette fries.
From 13th October to 11th February
Fashionable concoctions
If you prefer your cocktails with a stylish edge, Great Scotland Yard Hotel have partnered with Emily Carter – a British designer based in London – to celebrate London Fashion Week. Visit the art deco 40 Elephants bar and sip on a ‘Silken Elegance’ cocktail for £18. You can also upgrade your cocktail to a ‘Luxe Edition’ for £90 and take home an Emily Carter Twilly Scarf, inspired by the designer’s lifelong interest in the natural world.
From Friday 15th – Tuesday 29th September
Destination discovery
With a stellar line-up of scientists and researchers, New Scientist Live’s packed programme and 80+ stands at ExCeL are a must-peruse for anyone curious about the world’s latest breakthroughs, innovations and discoveries. From wildlife photographers to neurologists, oceanographers and well known TV presenters, talk topics will include AI and robots, climate change, lab-grown meat, cosmology, and much more. There will also be live experiments and a lively Market Place with the best scientific swag.
From 7th – 8th October
Theatre shenanigans
Multi award-winning comedy Noises Off is back in the west end celebrating its 40th anniversary. The rollercoaster play within a play spotlights the on and offstage antics of a touring theatre company, about to open in Weston-super-Mare, with hilariously farcical results. Matthew Horne and Tamzin Outhwaite will star alongside Felicity Kendal, Jonathan Coy and Alexander Hanson for a 12-week season at Theatre Royal Haymarket.
From 27th September – 16th December 2023
A terrifying treat
Known for their spectacular soirées, Mansion London will be returning to an as yet undisclosed address in Holborn for a Halloween extravaganza (although they have revealed it’s an architecturally-acclaimed venue that clinched the RIBA Sterling Prize.) Get your finest roguishly red outfit prepared for an evening featuring some of London’s top DJs, haunting artistry, chilling entertainment – and makeup artists at the ready, just in case you need to look even more ghoulish.
Saturday 28th October
Amazonian awareness
Take a stroll past Annabel’s in Mayfair to make sure you catch their tropical facade, part of the month-long Annabel’s For The Amazon campaign with The Caring Family Foundation (TCFF) – established four years ago to raise awareness and funds for the Amazon’s deforestation crisis. To date, the campaign has planted 1.75 million trees and seedlings across Brazil’s rainforests and remains on target to reach 2 million trees planted by March 2024.
Until 30th September
