We won’t waffle on – take a look at the deliciously fun grand opening of St James Quarter’s latest restaurant
Already a 24-hour hit in London, Duck & Waffle made its glittering debut in Scotland’s capital last week with a launch party as decadent as the food.
Greeted by glitter ball-bedecked dancers performing at the chequered entrance, attendees sipped on Bellavista sparkling wine, melon palomas and mini eggs atop waffles galore – a canapé version of the restaurant’s namesake dish. Heading up the waffles section, it combines crispy leg confit, a fried duck egg and mustard maple syrup.
The grand opening saw guests including Jean Johansson, Kayus Bankole, Carol Smillie and Gary Lamont arrive at St James Quarter to sample a selection of the restaurant’s wide-ranging menu – which ranges from tempting waffle creations to small plates including a spiced ox cheek doughnut and deep fried haggis bar with duck fried caramel and Bovril. The restaurant’s breakfast classics feature a chickpea dahl and duck egg en cocotte with wild mushrooms, Gruyère and truffle.
The night wrapped up with more mesmerising dance performances and music from special guest, DJ Barrientos (Ushuaia, Printworks, Pacha).
