Dundee’s most famous comic book character is now the statement star of Radley’s latest collection
Bright graphics meet chic leather with a glint of Dennis the Menace cheekiness. British accessories brand Radley London have joined forces in one roguishly appealing collab… cute Scottie dog optional.
The range of Beano-inspired handbags and accessories – based around the antics of Dennis, Gnasher, Minnie the Minx, and a newly adorned Radley Scottie in the Beano’s trademark stripes – includes totes, wallets, keyrings and satchel-style bags. The range will be available to buy in both Radley’s London and Glasgow stores, as well as online.
The collaboration ties in with a major exhibition at Somerset House, starting on 21st October, which celebrates 70 years of Dennis’ mischievous rampaging.
The exhibition – called ‘Beano: The Art of Breaking the Rules’ – runs until 6th March 2022. Featuring writers, musicians, painters, sculptors and photographers, including original artwork from sculptor Phyllida Barlow, painter Beryl Cook and Turner Prize-winning artist Martin Creed, the new exhibition will display unseen-in-public comic drawings chosen across 4,000-plus editions.
Radley London have also launched an exclusive pop-up shop in Edinburgh’s St James Quarter, running until 24th December. The curated space will showcase Radley’s autumn/winter collection bags and accessories, from maxi to micro to crossbody and top handle styles. Other collections include bags from the Radley Responsible range, made from sustainable materials including recycled polyester derived from plastic bottles, BCI-accredited cotton, and water-based PU.
