New opening in the West End

After months of not knowing when we’d see the inside of a pub again, it’s cheering to see new venues opening up in Glasgow’s brilliantly bustling Great Western Road.

The Loveable Rogue (and who hasn’t been partial to one of the aforementioned in their time, let’s be honest) feels like a welcome addition to the neighbourhood, with comfort classics such as chicken and mushroom pie, Scotch egg with chorizo and pork with black pudding all making an appearance on the menu.

Formerly known as The Hebridean, the pub-restaurant has been given a copper and navy makeover, complementing the venue’s distinctive stained glass windows and with plenty of snug seating for a wee date night or catch up with pals. It’s the first business venture for owner and chef Joe Lazzerini and partner Amalia Colaluca, who have taken over the reins to create a menu that’s as much about sharing as hearty meals, along with plenty of wine, beer and gin-sipping options.

There are sharing boards comprising charcuterie or côte de boeuf options, while seafood lovers can indulge in the lobster mac ‘n’ cheese or a scallops, sweetcorn and mackerel dish. Veggie dishes include cauliflower and smoked cheese, and strozzapreti with smoked ricotta and hazelnut. There’s also an eat-your-heart-out Sunday roast menu for fans of the traditional weekend ritual.
Open Tuesday – Sundays from 12pm – late. For bookings, visit theloveablerogue.co.uk
