We do like a piece of jewellery with a good backstory, so that’s why we’re feeling particularly starry-eyed over Hamilton & Inches‘ forthcoming Scottish Gold collection – with one particular piece representing another Edinburgh institution.
The historic Balmoral Hotel first forged a partnership with Hamilton & Inches in 1902, when the luxury jeweller created the hotel’s famous clock. Now, the jewellery house’s workshops have created a a limited-edition Balmoral Clock charm to mark their relationship with the hotel. The new collection also inspired The Balmoral’s festive installation this year. You can see it in all its golden glory in the hotel’s lobby, where a 15ft spruce tree hand-painted with gold leaf is on display, with branches offset with glittering gold accents and crystal touches.
The new charm will feature in a bespoke festive turndown for the hotel’s top suite, The Scone & Crombie
The Scottish Gold collection will launch in early 2019 – it’s been handcrafted from the purest possible Scottish Gold from the Tyndrum mine in the Scottish Highlands, and worked on by the jewellery house’s designers and master craftspeople.
The Balmoral Clock Charm by Hamilton & Inches costs £85 in sterling silver and £1,450 in 18ct yellow gold. Available at the Hamilton & Inches showroom at 87 George Street, Edinburgh or online
