This St Andrews retreat is a wellness gem
Soothing seaside views and indulgent, sleep-focused luxuries make this St Andrews hideaway a wellness must

By Tracey McNellan

Seaton House is the perfect 24-hour coastal escape. From the moment I arrived, the calm, welcoming atmosphere put me at ease. I was shown to my suite, and it was absolutely stunning. Floor-to-ceiling windows framed the gentle waves of West Sands Beach, and I even had my own outdoor terrace to soak in the fresh sea air. Every detail, from the premium, luxurious Ava Innes duvets to the Scottish wool pillows, was designed to support rest and wellbeing, and my little lavender-scented cashmere eye mask was the perfect finishing touch for a truly indulgent night’s sleep. This is wellness you can feel.

I spent some time downstairs at Bow Butts Bar, a warm and inviting space where it was easy to linger and simply slow down. Dinner at Ondine Oyster & Grill followed, with wonderful fresh seafood – especially the oysters – complemented by the serene coastal surroundings. Every detail of the evening felt handpicked to enhance the sense of calm and indulgence that defines a stay here.

Back in my suite, I curled up with a book before sinking into what can only be described as the most replenishing sleep. Waking up refreshed, I could immediately feel the difference that thoughtful design, luxury bedding and dedicated self-care make – a good night’s sleep really does set you up to handle anything.

Calming views

Breakfast the next morning in The Board Room felt leisurely and elegant. The spread was generous, the staff warm and welcoming, and every bite of the carefully prepared food felt like part of the wellness experience. After 24 hours designed entirely around rest, calm and indulgence, enhanced by the Ava Innes collection, I realised how powerful a thoughtfully curated stay can be. My time at Seaton House wasn’t just a visit, it was a complete immersion in wellness – a reminder of the joy of slowing down, and allowing yourself to be fully cared for.
