The Edinburgh Grand – Scotland’s first Marriott Luxury Collection hotel – now has refreshed interiors, elevated service and upgraded rooms and suites

Set in a landmark former bank on St Andrew Square, The Edinburgh Grand now has a new five-star positioning – joining only three other Luxury Collection hotels in the UK. 

Spacious one-, two- and three-bedroom suites (many ideal for longer stays) come with in-room kitchens, artisan welcome treats, tartan pyjamas and bedtime books for younger guests, pet packs for four-legged travellers, and omelette service in the largest suites. 

The grand atrium

Originally built in 1942 as the headquarters of the Royal Bank of Scotland, the building retains sweeping staircases, towering sash windows and period flourishes, now refreshed and complemented by warm, contemporary interiors inspired by Scottish textures and materials. 

The reopening marks the completion of the first phase of enhancements across the hotel, with 33 upgraded rooms now complete. Guests will also find a newly equipped gym, refreshed front foyer, and refurbished Executive Lounge and retail space. The remaining room and suite upgrades and a reimagined spa will follow later this year.

The hotel’s dining offering is equally distinctive. The Register Club, the hotel’s signature lounge, offers breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails in a stylish, heritage-inspired setting. Lady Libertine spans two floors, serving coffee, pastries, cocktails and live music into the evening, while Hawksmoor Edinburgh offers award-winning steak and seafood in a relaxed but elegant space. Hidden below the building, The Vault offers whisky tastings and seasonal pop-ups in the former bank vaults.
