New House of Bruar bakery partners with celebrity chef

In celebration of its 30th year, The House of Bruar has launched a new bakery at its landmark Blair Atholl store. The new bakery sits within Bruar’s Food Hall, and offers a selection of fresh baking, including sourdough loaves, baguettes, focaccia, crusty rolls, bagels and pretzels.

Baked each day, Bruar’s own provisions are supplemented by items from top Scottish bakery suppliers, including croissants and pastries from Dundee’s The Newport Bakery, run by Chef Jamie Scott, crowned the winner of Masterchef: The Professionals in 2014. The bakery will also offer cupcakes and tray bakes from Edinburgh’s Mimi’s Bakehouse.

The launch of the on-site bakery follows in the footsteps of the store’s butchery, recent recipient of a slew of Q-Smithfield Butchery awards for its pies, sausages and steaks. Speaking at the launch, Creative Director Tom Birkbeck welcomed the new development:

“With our butchery proving such a hit, launching a bakery in this special Anniversary Year seemed the next logical step. The smell of fresh baking is wonderful, and after extensive taste-testing by willing volunteers on the team, it’s great that customers are enjoying it as much as we are.”

The Bruar Bakery is open daily. For information and opening times, visit houseofbruar.com
