Charlie Miller marks 60 Years of hairdressing with heartfelt thanks to Edinburgh community

There’s excitement in the air at Charlie Miller Hairdressing this November as the iconic Edinburgh salon group celebrates an incredible milestone – 60 years of serving the people of Edinburgh. Since opening the doors of its very first salon in 1965, the family-run company has grown not just in size, but in spirit – built on relationships, trust, and a shared belief in the power of great hairdressing to make people feel truly seen.

What began with the late Charlie Miller and his wife Janet in a housing estate in Prestonfield Avenue, has flourished into three city-centre salons, a respected training academy, and a close-knit team of passionate stylists who carry their legacy forward every day. Through changing trends, generations of clients, and decades of industry evolution, one thing has remained constant: the company’s deep-rooted commitment to care.

Some 20 years ago, the reins of running the family business were handed over to sons and joint managing directors, Jason & Josh Miller. “As we celebrate 60 years, our hearts are full,” said Jason & Josh. “Our journey has been shaped by the people around us. To every client who has sat in our chairs, every team member – past and present – who has shared their talent, and every supplier who has supported our vision, we are profoundly grateful. This milestone belongs to all of you.”
